Linux/Unix Command: mv - Move (rename) files

mv - Move (rename) files

CODE:
$ mv [options] [source] [dest]

The mv command changes the current directory, and is used to move or browse directories/folders on your server via SSH.

For example:

CODE:
$ mv file.txt file.html

Would rename file.txt to file.html

CODE:
$ mv file.txt tmp

Would move the file.txt file into the tmp directory.

CODE:
$ mv -f file.txt tmp
